Important Notice to our Theatre and Music PatronsPosted Jun. 20, 2013
On April 25, 2013, Vendini Inc. notified the police and the FBI that they had detected an unauthorized intrusion into its systems. Vendini is the ticketing service vendor for events at the theatre and music departments at Kent State University at Stark.
Vendini notified Kent State University on May 21 of this intrusion, which involves a system that is neither hosted by, nor integrated with Kent State or its systems.
Upon notification of the breach, the Kent State administration has been working diligently with Vendini and the University’s Office of General Counsel to understand the scope of the issue, which involves unauthorized access to names and credit card numbers, but not the security codes nor any other personal information.
According to Vendini, the intrusion point has been identified and closed and the FBI is working to identify the perpetrator. To date, no fraudulent credit card charges have been reported as a result of this intrusion, and there have been no other intrusions into the Vendini system. Vendini has worked with cyber security experts to enhance its system, and is confident that transactions for tickets purchased since April 25 are secure.
Patrons who have been affected by this unauthorized access are encouraged to monitor their credit cards for any suspicious activity and to notify their banks, creditors and police department immediately any fraudulent activity is detected. Vendini believes those with access to the information may attempt to contact the patrons, offering to help, but instead, these individuals are attempting to illegally obtain additional personal information. If contacted in this manner, patrons are warned to not provide any information and to notify Vendini immediately at 1-800-836-0473.
