Opera Club
Formed by those who appreciate and have an interest in operas and musicals. Members attend local musicals and operas and often perform at area nursing homes.

Music at Kent State Stark

Kent State University at Stark offers programs leading to undergraduate degrees for students who seek a high level of professional competence in instrumental, vocal or music technology. Acceptance is by audition for all degree programs. Students can complete 2-3 years of coursework at Kent State Stark before transitioning to the Kent Campus to finish their degree.

The Bachelor of Science in Music Technology can be completed in its entirety at Kent State Stark.

Music Minors at Kent State Stark
Students can complete all requirements for the following minors at Kent State Stark. Links will direct you to the catalog requirements.
  • Audio Recording Minor
    The audio recording minor is designed to give students a strong foundation in the rapidly developing field of audio recording technologies. Couples with courses in music, the minor provides students with the necessary tools to be successful in studio equipment, techniques and standards.

  • Music Technology/Production Minor
    The music technology minor is designed to give students a strong foundation in the rapidly developing field of music production and audio recording technologies. Coupled with courses in applied music, the minor provides students with the necessary tools to be successful in studio equipment, techniques and standards.

  • Music Minor
    The music minor provides a basic understanding of music literature, theory and performance. Prospective minors must take a theory test and audition in voice or on a traditional orchestral/band instrument before beginning applied study.


Other Music Majors - Finish at the Kent Campus

Students can complete 2-3 years of coursework at Kent State Stark before transitioning to the Kent Campus to complete their degree.

Career Opportunities

Opportunities available to graduates of the School of Music are numerous and varied. Kent State University alumni have outstanding records as classroom teachers, composers, performers and band, orchestra and choral conductors. Others choose careers in music retail, instrument repair, music administration, research, technology, music library work and studio teaching.
