• "Jam Sessions" Kent State Stark Book Club!!
  The next meeting of "Jam Sessions," the Stark Campus Book Club will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 5:15pm in the Library's Teaching Area (first floor) to discuss Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. Join in the conversation and, of course, the homemade jam and bread. Everyone is invited!!
• Subject Libguides
  The Library replaced its subject-specific web pages with more comprehensive Libguides. These guides provide more detailed information about the resources available from the Library, broken down by the subject areas taught at Kent State Stark. These guides are also more interactive. As you use these subject guides, please feel free to leave comments or suggestions for how we can improve our services.
  
  
• iPads
  The library has 4 iPads. Two are available for delivery to any classroom on campus. The other two can be checked out to faculty for up to two weeks to experiment with or otherwise use individually. The iPads need to be reserved in advance. Please review the guidelines before reserving the iPads. Contact us for reservations. Let us know your opinions regarding the use of iPads by completing a short survey.

• Plagiarism News
  Recently, WKYC (the channel 3 NBC affiliate in Cleveland) reporter/anchor Kim Wheeler spent some time observing our plagiarism efforts. The 3 minute report can be viewed at WKYC's website.
  
  
• Reserve a Group Study Room
  The Library has several group study rooms on the second floor. Except for room 207, they are all available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that, while you may use rooms alone, if a group needs one, you will need to relinquish the room to the group. Groups can reserve room 207 by using our online Group Study Room Request Form.
  
  
• netbook Cart
  The library has a cart filled with netbook computers. It is available for delivery to any classroom on campus. With wireless availability and teacher workstations in all classrooms, any classroom can be used as an electronic classroom (computer lab). The cart needs to be reserved in advance. The Library encourages faculty to seek other alternatives before requesting the cart. Please contact us for reservations and read our guidelines for using the cart.
  
  
• Reflections of Service
  Share your service experiences (and those of friends and family) in our Armed Forces. The Library is putting together a shared online collection of photos, letters, videos, songs ... and other memorabilia. The project will serve as a living community journal, bringing visibility to the diverse experiences of our armed forces. Learn more about this project and please consider contributing. • Library Second Floor - Designated Quiet Space
  The Library has designated the second floor as a Quiet Space for individual study and leisure reading. While on this floor, please refrain from the use of cell phones, other personal electronic devices, or any activity that may distract others from studying or otherwise using the Library for individual research. Group study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis (unless there are posted signs indicating they are reserved). When using the Group Study rooms, please be as quiet as possible and respectful of others on the second floor. Individuals may use Group Study rooms. However, if a group (more than 1 student) needs to use a Group Study room, an individual may be asked to relinquish the room.
  
  
• iMacs
  The library now has 4 iMac (Apple) computers on the first floor.
  
  
• Laptops
  The Library and Campus Center have laptops that Kent State and Stark State students can check out and use for online searching, word processing, etc. within each building using the campus' wireless environment. Students should read the policies for borrowing a laptop. There is an laptop agreement each student must sign before using a laptop.

  • Guest Network - Restricts you from using FlashLine and other proprietary Kent State services
  • FlashZone Network - Requires you to use your FlashLine username and password each time you connect
  • FlashZone WPA Network - You must configure your laptop using the following instructions for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, or Macintosh.
  
  
• Acceptable Use Policy
  The Library provides 40+ workstations for people who come into the library. In addition, students may choose to checkout a laptop. These computers are provided for educational purposes. The Acceptable Use Policy describes the appropriate ways these computers should be used. The policy is posted on the library's web site, at each set of desktop computers and near print stations.
