Non-Credit Classes



Non-Credit Fitness Classes:

  • Open to Kent State Stark faculty, staff and students; and Stark State College faculty and staff.
  • No class registration required, however, class space fills on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Must wear proper attire and be registered to use the center.
  • No classes will be held when the university is closed due to weather emergencies, holidays or during spring break.

Summer 2013



Bootcamp

May 15 - August 21
Wednesdays: 8 - 8:45 a.m.

This fast-paced, fat-burning class will include calisthenics, weight training and cardiovascular activities in interval and rotating station-type formats. If you are looking for an intense, full-body class to help increase the efficiency of your workouts, this one is for you.


Breast Cancer STRETCH

Runs continuously throughout the year
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 10 - 11 a.m.

This class incorporates stretching, muscular endurance and cardiovascular activity to help survivors rehabilitate both mentally and physically from the effects of breast cancer. Special attention will be given to education about lymphedema, range of motion and strength issues associated with non/surgical cancer treatments. Participants of any fitness level are encouraged to attend, including those who may need to sit during classes. Physician’s clearance is required.


Beach Body Workout

May 15 - August 21
Wednesdays: 4 - 4:50 p.m.

This is a full body toning class incorporating strength training and cardiovascular intervals to burn fat and increase muscular strength.


Indoor Cycling

May 14 - August 22
Wednesdays: 5:15 - 6 p.m.
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7 - 7:45 a.m.

This class is perfect for every level of fitness! Pedal resistance and speed are manipulated to effectively build leg strength and cardiovascular endurance.


Yoga

May 14 - August 22
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 12 - 1 p.m.

It doesn’t matter if you have never taken a yoga class or are a seasoned veteran. This hour-long class will introduce you to different poses and techniques used in different formats of yoga. This class will be more physical than spiritual and will benefit muscular endurance, flexibility and balance.
